My mom aka Grandma loves being outside with plants and gardening and what not. And well I kill things…unless of course they’re at our house but she’s taking care of them. I really wanted something for her and Row to do together. Something that could last and that would be a special place for both of them on our porch. After the last hurricane we went through here in Texas in which the hubs and I brought in about thirty potted plants and anything else not bolted down in the front and backyard into our living room we both vowed never to have loads of stuff again. The fairy garden solves that. It’s just one planter.
Fairy gardens have become really popular. When I first started reading about them on pinterest no doubt, you couldn’t find pieces for sale anywhere. It was people literally building the pieces. I mean that could be really fun down the road right? The great thing about fairy gardening is that you can do just that, build your own or purchase items.
Our local nursery actually carries pieces from as small as glow in the dark rocks to as big as actual houses that you can build into the dirt and moss. I love that you can theme things-I theme everything! As you can see ours is currently a campsite. You can add pieces for the holidays, etc.
Also local craft stores such as Hobby Lobby and JoAnn’s have started carrying pieces for sale. I believe it’s more seasonal such as spring and summer though. You can also use doll house pieces to create your fairy garden. The possibilities are endless! We created ours in a galvanized bucket. You could easily create a fairy garden just in a simple flower bed under a tree or in a bird bath-just add dirt! And if you’re really getting into it-go check this place out-so cool!
