Guide to Disney Land Fast Pass

October 5, 2018 By Callie Leave a Comment

So you want to go to Disney Land? You should! Visiting Disney Land is definitely a bucket list item. You can see where the dream was started and ride some rides and see some shows! You can make the most of your trip to Disney Land by utilizing the Fast Pass system-here’s how!

Fast Pass is a system Disney has in place that allows guests to bypass the standby line/que and instead go directly to the ride quicker-usually a 10-15 minute wait. Disney World and Disney Land utilize fast passes in a different way. You can find out how Disney World fast passes work here.  Disney Land allows guest to obtain a paper fast pass at kiosks throughout the park. The kiosks are located just outside all eligible fast pass rides. You obtain a fast pass by inserting or scanning your daily ticket. A paper fast pass then is dispensed by the ride kiosk machine giving guests a return time. The return time is able to be used for a full hour. For example, your fast pass to Haunted Mansion would say come back from 10:00-11:00 and you may redeem this ticket anytime during that hour time period. Make sure you hold onto this paper since you will need to turn it into the Cast Member (CM) upon entering the fast pass line. Some rides will also store digitally but some rides or shows will not so it’s a safe bet to hold onto those paper fast passes no matter what.

You will be eligible to obtain another fast pass 2 hours after your first fast pass was obtained and this time will be stamped onto your current fast pass for reference. This means you can get another fast pass even if you have not used your fast pass as long as it is in the eligible time period. MaxPass is also available for an additional fee which you can read about here. If the fast pass you currently hold is for a ride that becomes broken or shut down, hold onto your fast pass until the end of your ride period. You may then present this fast pass at an eligible fast pass ride location that is working and you will be able to enter that ride instead.

Anaheim Majestic Garden Hotel-Annaheim,Ca

March 3, 2017 By Callie Leave a Comment

I am always looking online for fun family places to stay when we travel. I tend to love places that have a cute theme or attraction, are kid friendly, are close to adventures and save me money!

Our family recently scored a deal on tickets to Southern California and I began my booking agenda. We found so many fun family things to do-find out what in my previous post. I found the Anaheim Majestic close to everything! I saved by booking directly through the hotel itself. I often find that using hotel search engines are great ways to locate hotels but are not always great ways to save money. I often get a better deal by going straight to the source. I ended up saving a little over a hundred dollars by booking in full and in advance and the rate was lass when booking through the hotel as well.

Anaheim Majestic is an adorable Bavarian themed hotel just down the street from Disneyland. In fact, they are a good neighbor hotel to Disneyland and offer a variety of services for families planning on visiting the parks including a super comfy shuttle bus that runs often and advance tickets sold by Disney in their lobby. You can also get transfers to Universal for a fee.

We visited during the Christmas season and were lucky to have the hotel decked out for the holiday season!

The hotel also has a dragon theme with poems and riddles written throughout the hotel on the walls. The courtyard has a large dragon, pool and fountains.

(Uhem pictures with littles-the struggle is real!)

The rooms were wonderful, kept with the theme and had plenty of room. The hotel also has a full serve restaurant and buffet breakfast. There’s also a deli for late night snack and souvenirs.

We loved the convenience, family friendliness and price of this hotel! The only draw back was is you have a rental car then you have to pay a daily fee to park on property but they do also offer a shuttle from the hotel.

Top Family Spots in Southern California

February 16, 2017 By Callie Leave a Comment

California-no doubt about it. If you’ve been following our family travels then you are full aware of our Fifty Nifty Challenge. That’s right we set a family goal to visit all 50 states by the time our Row goes to college. It’s getting fun! We did agree to split California into Southern and Northern trips since there is just so much to do there. We snagged an airfare deal to Los Angeles and off we went!

Here are our top family spots in Southern California!

  1. Disneyland-you know you saw this one coming. You can’t visit soCal and not go to Disneyland. I carved out one day for Disneyland and sadly we didn’t get close to doing everything! I would definitely plan for two days. Disneyland is tiny if you’re used to Disney world. The castle is amazing and the churros are necessary. Make sure you stop and see Toon Town. I mapped out a list of all the events and rides only available at Disneyland and made those a priority-you’ll see them in an upcoming post.
  2. California Adventure-you have to go to both parks….especially if you’re only going once like us! It’s literally next door to Disneyland. California Adventure has a boardwalk feel with a completely cool Bugs Land and Cars Land attached. Make sure you ride the ferris wheel but I will warn you-go on the stationary one!
  1. The Chinese Theater and Walk of Fame– It’s a quick visit into Hollywood. Easy to park. Once you get on Hollywood Boulevard the stars are everywhere and oh so fun! The Chinese theater is a quick visit but seeing all those stars of days gone byes hand prints are priceless and are definitely something to do while you’re there! Oh and it’s free! There is also always some kind of event happening in that area for film releases so check it out online for the day you visit.
  2. Hollywood Sign-Come on-it’s a classic. There are many spots you can stop at while driving-we especially liked that we could find a spot on our way to the next place we were going and knocked out two bucket lists item in one visit. Keeping it real with this picture!
  3. Griffith Observatory- This one is also free. You can pay a small fee to see the show but otherwise visiting is free. The views are amazing and there are tons of cool exhibits like a Tesla coil. So many films and tv shows have used this amazing place as a set.
  4. Santa Monica Pier-It’s so much fun to drive on the boardwalk! We rode the ferris wheel, rode some kiddie rides, peered off the edge to see the Pacific and smelled the sea air. The rides are a bit pricey but it costs nothing just to walk. I highly recommend the ferris wheel!
  5. Randy’s Donuts– My husband had no idea what this place was…..shocking. It’s the place with the huge iconic donut on the top of the building! It’s right on your way back to the airport and easy to stop at as you leave. Go for the Texas Sized donut-it was amazing.

There are so many more places we could have gone! I would definitely plan on staying at least 7 days to get everything in! Happy traveling!
