WE are so lucky to live in the Katy/Houston Area. It’s such a family friendly place with lots to do. One staple that has been in Houston since I was little was the Houston Zoo-and boy has it changed from when I was a little girl. I remember monkeys in cages and a tiny hippo pool. The zoo has expanded over the years adding recently an African section which houses the chimpanzees, giraffes, rhinos, etc… There are so many fun thing to do at the zoo everyday and seasonally-did you know…
You can feed the giraffes? That’s right twice a day…it’s an additional cost-very reasonable. It’s so cool too! Rowan and I did it when she was just five months old.
There’s a splash pad!Bring your bathing suit-or you can buy one there. They have a changing room and everything.
Look for play stops along the way especially in the African section.
Trainers and caregivers are throughout the zoo and stop along the way to talk to you about the animals they care for.
Don’t forget the Carousel-although Rowan refuses to ride. Also if you’re a zoo member you get a discounted ticket! Forget to use it-save it for next time!
The children’s petting zoo…lots of baby animals, slide, playgrounds, you name it!
The zoo also runs special events throughout the year such as zoo lights during Christmas and right now the ginormous bugs exhibit! We plan on going next week! Let ya know how it goes!
