This week I had the grand dream of taking our Row to her first movie. Zootopia! I was pretty psyched myself. I bought the tickets so we didn’t have to wait in line. I bought the first showing on a Tuesday thinking no one would be there. I brought the blessed blankie.
We went! It was brilliant. She was so excited about us getting popcorn and being in the theater. She sat and watched all thirty minutes of the previews. I slowly watched as five different groups of adults only walked in thinking gasp….
We lasted an hour-a cool hour before said threenager starting jumping on the seats and running amuck. You know what I think the problem was? She was too young. Maybe I’m wrong about this. Honestly my expectations were low and she did survive a whole hour. So many of my friends have brought young children to the movies and their facebook/instagram pictures showed them loving it.
I think sometimes we get so caught up in wanting our children to do that we forget that they’re babies still. I see this as a growing trend where we live. Too much too soon. But you know what baby girl-you did great. I loved all ten minutes of that movie-oh and BTW-those ten minutes were awesome! Zootopia is still technically her first movie!
For now-we will buy and watch in our living room theater.
When did your children sit through their first entire movie in a theater?
