You’re off! It’s finally time and you’re going International! What are some of the things you need to prep for before the big trip? Let’s take a look!

Passports-well of course! Make sure your passport is up to date. You will see reports saying if your passport has 6 months are less time left until expiration you need a new passport but this is not the case. Of course once you get home you might as well renew it! If you’re going on a closed loop cruise-meaning starts in Port Canaveral and comes back to Port Canaveral you technically don’t need a passport but I would have one just to always be safe! If where you’re traveling to needs you to have a Visa it’s best to get this done several months beforehand.

Money-it’s always nice to have a little bit of local pocket change. Many AAA places will allow you to exchange money before your trip. Most MAJOR banks like Bank of America will as well. Local banks often don’t cover money exchange as a service so check with your local branch. You will need to order your travel money at least a month in advance. Banks often don’t have money on site and have to have it shipped in. You will pay at the time of ordering and expect there to be a fee on top.

Travel Bag– it’s important to have a daily travel bag that is lightweight and is RFID blocking for credit card swipers. You’ll want to carry your personal items and passport with you at all times. I personally carry a Travelon cross body. It’s waterproof, I can cross body carry it, lightweight, plenty of pockets, has a light on the inside, RFID blocking and anti cut straps. It also is a fraction of the cost!

Travel Pillow-flights internationally are often long! It’s also nice to book an overnight flight so you can attempt to sleep through a large portion of your flight. I am not a fan of travel pillows because they often give me a stiff neck. This beauty was able to collapse flat in the middle. You can easily adjust it and you can also use the string to tie it tight in place both for when in use and onto your travel bag.

Credit Cards-make sure you check with your credit card company to see if your card charges a service fee per transaction. It’s usually a percentage. But check around because many cards do not have a charge! Check before you buy!

Now all you need to do is pack! Plan and enjoy! Need help planning your next trip? Feel free to find me on Facebook at Callie at Wanderkeep Trave; or you can message me at callie@wanderkeep.com as always my services are complimentary!
