Yesterday started the long weekend! It was so nice. We decided to pack our bags for a quick trip to Austin.
Far enough away but close to home. I was dreaming of cooler weather-no joke…..it was all a lie. You know that feeling where the pants you are wearing are now wearing you-exactly.
The Austin Convention Center was hosting the LEGO Kidsfest too and we decided to pop by.
We went to the first session which started Friday at 4:30. I was hoping for less of a crowd. They were also hosting sessions all day Saturday and Sunday and this long Labor day weekend was the perfect time.
Ok so first off who doesn’t love LEGOS….as long as I’m not stepping on them barefoot. We popped on in and Row immediately directed us to the LEGO sculptures. They had an entire section of things built out of Legos. I tried really hard to get a picture with the Woody and Buzz one…toddlers don’t stand still! I did manage to come away with this picture though. Oh and you can see Buzz and Woody in the background right.
There was also a display of fairy Legos which lit up. It was by far our fav thing there because pressing buttons and running in circles is our favorite. It was so cool-they had mini hanging fairy lights that lit up-and the lava too.
The LEGO Kidsfest was broken down into sections. They had section with lectures and demonstrations. There was a ginormous LEGO pile in the center of the room where kiddos could just go and sit and build. I completely appreciated the fact that 1. They had they entire section surrounded by chairs so parents could sit and watch-bonus and 2. Hand sanitizer everywhere because kids are gross and school just started and everyone is sick.
They also had different sections for different products. Love Star Wars-you can go to that section, check out the new stuff and build. Like the friends collection same thing. I counted at least 6 different areas for specific building. They had games, food, and places to buy your LEGO must haves, including backpacks and clothes.
The BEST section was the DUPLO section! Littles had their own building area. How cute right? Oh and they even has LEGO people walking around for pictures!
We had a great time and we were all exhausted. I did scream LEGOLAND in my head several million times while I was there!
