Houston Happenings-Sugar Creek Baptist Playscape-Sugarland

June 7, 2016 By Callie Leave a Comment

Looking for some fun out of the sun this summer? I am and I’m talking about playing in the air conditioning. We are continuing our series of posts on fun things to do in the Houston area for the kiddos! We are so lucky to live in a place where so much is not so far away.

Sugar Creek Baptist Church located in Sugarland, TX has an indoor playscapre open to the public during the week and guess what? It’s free!

The playscape features sections for toddlers and preschoolers and chairs for the Mamas! There’s an area just outside the playscape so if you’d like to bring your lunch you can sit at the tables and enjoy. Clean bathrooms and a cute aquarium which Row loves.

I’ve included a link to their website so you can find out all about it. Children must wear socks. Sugar Creek also uses this area for birthday parties on the weekends.

I love how the church has created a place for families to enjoy and come together.

Last Minute Toddler Class Gifts

December 22, 2015 By Callie Leave a Comment

It’s that hour…things are getting crazy out there! I am an amazon prime person completely. That being said sometimes you just don’t know what you want to get someone and so you want to go out and look. God bless all of you who venture out to stores this week. If you’re looking for last minutes toddler friends gifts I’ve got you covered.

I always try to do something new and fun for the kiddos. It’s also nice to have a nonfood gift for the littles especially since so many have allergies nowadays.

Row and I made these fun and easy snow discovery bottles to hand out to her music friends. Great for toddler, babies, and honestly my Kindergarten kiddos would have loved these too and probably up to second grade.

Supplies-

smaller sized water bottles

silver glitter

hot glue gun

tags-I found snow tags!

Remove the labels from each bottle.

Open and remove the equivalent of two gulps 🙂 out of the bottle. You want the bottle to be full and be able to put the glitter in so don’t take out too much water. Add 1-2 scoops of silver glitter to each bottle. Using your hot glue gun glue the cap of the water bottle onto the bottle-I simply applied glue in a circle on the cap.

Tag. Shake. You’re done!

Easy and the kids loved them! Oh and you’ll look super crafty and it literally took 15 minutes for me to make. That’s less time than if I bought goody bags and stuffed them! And… these are great because if children in the class don’t celebrate Christmas it’s not super Christmas specific! Sno

Merry Christmas!

Gorillas Are Here-Houston Zoo

May 26, 2015 By Callie Leave a Comment

The Houston Zoo has been hyping up there upcoming arrival of Gorillas. As zoo members we had the chance to get into the exhibit early!

The Gorilla habitat is located in the African area of the zoo right across from the chimpanzees. I was actually really surprised at just how big this area really was.

There was a sprawling walkway leading up to an enclosed building which housed warthogs.

IMG_2173

This then led us out into an outside walkway area which we could view the gorillas from above. It was pretty amazing! Although our time was short lived due to the demands of a toddler-typical. Row loved looking out of the gated area.

IMG_2174

We then walked into another enclosed area which had an inside area for the Gorillas with trees and glass for us to easily look into.

They also had two life sized gorilla statues in the room along with some artifacts. Row was not having it.

I took her out of the wagon and placed her next to the gorilla statue for a picture but when she turned around she screamed and ran like a maniac into the crowd….I guess they are realistic and rather large to a 2 year old.

Go check out the new exhibit! It really was amazing. Another fun thing to do for the upcoming summer.
