This weekend was all about being a Texan. You see every year we have this amazing thing happen and they’re called bluebonnets. What’s a bluebonnet? Ask any Texas Kindergartner and they will tell you why ma’am that’s our state flower. They look like little tiny blue bonnets and line the roadside hills of our interstates especially through the hill country.
Every year about this time we make the drive out of the city and into Chappell Hill-home of the Bluebonnet Festival. We look for those marvelous blue and orange hills. We have Indian paintbrushes too-don’t know about those? Check out this and this Tomie dePaola children’s book.
We take a picture every single year-some years go well…..
so years go okay….
and some years just don’t.
Like I said we are making memories-they may not be the ones we wanted to make but we sure did make them.
We celebrate our Texas victory by doing something well Texan-BBQ-and pies, and blue bell and kolaches.
Because well the stars at night are big and bright-deep in the heart of Texas.
