So I have a little side business..it’s called what else Callie Cakes. It kind of fell in my lap. When I first stayed home from teaching to go through fertility I had all these goals to accomplish while I was at home so I didn’t get bored. One was cake decorating. I went through all three courses at Michaels! They were lame and awesome. I dreamed of making really cool cakes like you’d see on Pinterest but all I ended up making was Rainbow cakes that looked like something out of the 80’s-which is fabulous by the way. Cupcakes and cakeballs are my real calling. So I started baking and eating and my friends started asking me to make things for them. I’m in a local mom’s group here in town and our mentor mom’s daughter plays high school basketball. She asked me to make basketballs for their championship game. She gave each girl a little basket filled with basketball cake balls-how cute is that!
Directions-Make your standard cake ball. Use meltables…although I did try using actual almond bark and adding orange coloring-you have to use AmeriColor not Wilton and it comes out great, much less expensive. Cover the cake balls orange.
Tip-For the piping….instead of melting the black meltables in a bowl put them in a piping bag for 15 seconds, pull out, smoosh, repeat until smooth. Prep another piping bag with tip and coupler, snip the bottom of the bag with the black and slide into the clean new bag you prepped. So easy!!!!! And Clean.
Free hand your line…allow to dry…and snap off edges. So cute and easy! What cool cakeballs have you made?
