Crockpot Cheeseburger Sloppy Joes

June 28, 2016 By Callie Leave a Comment

Sloppy Joe, slop sloppy Joes. This summer it’s all about turning off the oven and trying to stay cool. This recipe is sure to hit a home run for families. It’s easy and good and good. Perfect for Fourth of July and a big crowd!

Ingredients:

1 pound ground beef

1 stick of Velveeta

Hamburger buns

choice of condiments

1 whole onion chopped/diced

Garlic Powder

Set out that crockpot. Brown your ground beef and cook onions together in a skillet-drain off excess grease. Pour your ground beef mixture into your crockpot and add a dash of garlic powder. Cube your Velveeta and add on top pf your ground beef mixture. At this time you can add 2 tablespoons of ketchup, mustard, relish etc… I choose to not add these in the crockpot so people can add what they choose once the mixture is complete. Cook on low for 30 minutes to an hour, stirring occasionally. Serve on buns with condiments.

I would say these roughly make about 8-10 burgers so double as you see fit. These were sooo good! I used a small block of Velveeta so there wasn’t a ton of cheese but I think I could have easily used half of that. Happy Fourth and stay cool!

Crockpot Salisbury Steak

May 13, 2016 By Callie Leave a Comment

I have totally gotten on the crockpot bandwagon. More in an attempt to use mine more and last week it was 90 degrees outside. In MAY!!!! I love not having to crank the oven up and crank the AC down for summer and it’s nice to do little or no work for dinner and be done.

This one was an absolute keeper. I was skeptical and read several recipes online before ultimately altering and creating my own.

Crockpot Salisbury Steak-Cook time 2-3 hours

1 pound ground beef

1/2 cup bread crumbs of your choice

1 TBSP Salt

1 TBSP Pepper

1 Large Egg

1 Large Onion-diced

1 TBSP Cornstarch

1 Tbsp Water

1 Brown Gravy Package

1 Can Beef Broth

In a large bowl combine ground beef, salt, pepper, egg and bread crumbs. Combine thoroughly and form into patties-I easily made 4 patties.

In a skillet brown the patties-just on the outside-about 5 minutes-remove and place in the bottom of the crockpot. Remember you’re not cooking them just searing them.

In the same skillet add beef broth and bring to a boil, add in chopped onion. In a small bowl combine water and cornstarch and whisk together to form a paste-add to boiling skillet and mix-add in gravy packet mix until thoroughly mixed and pour over the top of your patties into your crockpot.

Cook on low for 2-3 hours-I did 3 hours. Serve over mashed potatoes. This was so good!!! You can easily double as well-great for leftovers. I’m also not a big gravy person myself but you can easily drain the gravy for less or add more when serving.
