Tiny Town & Railroad

July 17, 2016 By Callie 1 Comment

Morrison,CO

Our Fifty Nifty fun in the USA continues with a trip to Tiny Town in Morrison, CO. Tiny Town was actually en route back from Breckenridge to Denver for our flight home so I scheduled an hour to visit this cute little place to give my own tiny one some time to run off some energy before the flight home.

Tiny Town is located about twenty minutes outside of Denver. Tiny Town is a town comprised of miniature buildings and homes roughly the size of a three year old with intricate details. It was adorable! Tiny Town also has miniature steam engines that you can ride on! We picked that first to ensure we got to ride. There’s stroller parking! The trains run about every half hour and take you on a tour around the town. You even get to see the original even smaller houses on the property that were built back in 1920.

We rode the train with our hands in the air! We decided to tour the grounds on our own for the remainder of the time we had. We spied in buildings and climbed into some too. Row had a blast and pretty much refused to leave. Apparently she wasn’t feeling pictures.

There was also a large playground-we avoided because of the not wanting to leave factor. A cute eatery with old timey umbrella tables and fun ice cream and of course a gift store. You can also bring a sack lunch and eat at the picnic tables under the shade. Plenty of free parking too, oh and super affordable. Tickets cost $5 for adults and $3 for kids and then train rides are an additional $2. You can stay as long as you like and they often run special events. Oh and they host birthday parties how fun!

Tiny Town is also not only famous for being around forever but apparently it’s the scene of Stephen King’s sequel to The Shining…. A fun little stop on your way to Denver.

Five Things to do with Small Children at Schlitterbahn Galveston Island

May 28, 2016 By Callie 4 Comments

Galveston,TX

Summer is gearing up and I’m constantly amazed at how many fun things we have in the Houston area.

Schlitterbahn is an amazing water park with numerous locations in Texas. I was excited to find one so close to us in Galveston. Now we have a little-a threenager so I was hesitant to bring her but we are adventurers. I was worried there wouldn’t be enough for us to do. Boy was I wrong.

Here are my top five things to do with small children at Schlitterbahn, Galveston Island.

1.Torrent Beach Kids Area-Torrent Beach Kids Area is an area just for littles with chase loungers for parents. The area includes small slides and waterfall mushrooms perfect for entertaining the littlest guests. This area is also considered inside or rather in a completely covered area so no worries about burns!

2.Tiki Tikes–This is an outside area with loungers and shaded picnic areas. All small tikes areas have roughly 1 foot of water. This section boasts two slides perfect for young children and loads of water gushing out everywhere from tikis to water pipe “breaks”. Children are allowed to ride on parents laps down the slide as well.

3. Treasure Island Kids Pool– This outside area boasts a ginormous pirate ship full of slides and water features. Large enough for splashing around and lounging for grownup.

4. Wasserfest Kids Area-This smaller kids area is located in the inside covered are of the park so no burn worries. This kids area has a smaller pirate ship with four small water slides, dumping buckets and waterfall mushrooms.

5.Mix Your Own Icee and Watching Kristal River-Who doesn’t love an icee? At Schlitterbahn you can get  an extra long clear icee cup and fill it with a rainbow of flavors and just sit back and watch all the people enjoying the lazy river. I found that when we needed a break our little loved watching all the big kids on the slides.

I was honestly surprised at how many areas Schlitterbahn had created for small children. It really is a family fun park.

Parking is free and it’s close, our walk was minimal. Floaty Vests are available at the park to borrow for small children so if you don’t want to lug your floaties around you don’t have to. Is your little a thrill seeker? Well they can ride most large slides sitting on your lap-you brave souls!

Row was the one screaming no, no, no as I drug her out of the park. So there you have it. Don’t think that’s enough? How about you see for yourself? Schlitterbahn is giving away free passes to readers! Just enter below for your chance to win 2 all day tickets to any Schlitterbahn of their choice.

Are you gearing up for summer??? We are and although Row isn’t in school yet I am always looking for fun summery things for us to do and one of the benefits of living in the Houston area is there are a ton of things to do all the time.

On my list is Schlitterbahn. I’m looking forward to all the things that we can do with a preschooler and I’ll be posting after we go!!!! Let’s be honest having a preschooler isn’t like having a big kid so fingers crossed-but I’m pretty confident she’ll super love it and what am I looking forward to-the lazy river for sure!

Oh and this year just happens to be the 10 year anniversary of the opening of the Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark: Built in 2006, this water park is located on historical Galveston Island and has been voted as the World’s Best Indoor Waterpark for 8 straight years. This park features more than 33 attractions and a mile long Transportainment River system. To celebrate its 10 year anniversary, Galveston will be unveiling a new ride, which will be the world’s tallest water coaster – MASSIV!

Best Indoor-heck yes-no sunburns-no reapplying sunscreen!

It’s on!!! At Schlitterbahn! Visit Schlitterbahn’s page to plan your trip and enter to win free passes!

This is a sponsored post on behalf of Schlitterbahn but all opinions and sparkles are my own!
