Rodeo Houston Family Fun

March 29, 2017 By Callie Leave a Comment

Houston,TX

This is a sponsored post on behalf of Rodeo Houston-I received tickets to the Rodeo show in excahnge for my honest and root tooting opinion.

It’s that time of year…you know when you’re driving down the road and traffic’s just a going slow because there’s a Chuck Wagon full of actual chuck wagons being pulled by horses, led by Cowfolk, and the bluebonnets pop up and the boots come out. It’s a Texas tradition time and Rodeo Houston is just that! We literally go to Rodeo every year-yes Houston has that world famous, most amazing rodeo and it’s not just for those late concert going people who two step. It’s for the littles too.

Houston Rodeo has a livestock show as well-what’s that you ask? It’s where all our local FFA students who have advanced come and show their livestock and sell them to community members who usually donate the animals back to the students along with some money for college. It where folks from all over can come and learn about livestock and the different types of animals raised in Texas.

Houston Livestock show and rodeo is the place to come dressed in your best cowgirl wear and support local vendors by buying your little an authentic but has to be pink cowgirl hat.

It’s where you get to see real live Longhorns up close and in a most friendly kind of way.

It’s where you get to collect cards with animals on them-every child’s dream!

It’s where you can walk around and find an amazing carnival full of fun filled rides-except it was mighty windy that day and our cowgirl hat blew off and our littlest Texan wasn’t having any of that.

It’s where you can try your luck at fun carnival games and win not one but four new stuffed animals just by fishing without bait.

It’s where you can eat cookie dough, and cotton candy and sausage and BBQ all in one place.

You can literally spend a while day at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo-playing games, learning new things, planting, petting animals, seeing local high school art exhibits. If you get tired of the exhibit hall you can head outside where there’s a full fledged carnival with games, rides and food all in the shadow of our beloved Astrodome.

Houston is an amazing cultural city and the Houston Livestock show and Rodeo is a Texas tradition for young and old. Yeehaw. Add this one to your bucket list!

Houston Museum of Natural Science-Sugar Land

I have to start off by saying when we set out on this fun playdate I completely went to the wrong museum. I ended up driving to the children’s museum, getting out, going in and waiting by all the toys for our friends to show up. I was winning. I was on time, no tantrums and then crickets. Turns out I was at the wrong museum. She had three and I have one so I had to be the one to try and pry those toys away and leave. I didn’t blame her for the tantrum. It was my fault. Honestly I was amazed we even got out of there. Why did I go to the wrong museum because this little gem in Sugar Land is easily looked over!

I got lost trying to find it and went in circles. We finally made it and honestly we had a blast. Only about twenty minutes from Katy, small and not crowded at all. The kids were able to easily walk around and explore on their own with us close behind. Honestly they just had a million times more freedom.

We stopped by the fish tanks and the dinosaurs! We went through the glowing rocks and up the elevator-where everyone got to push those buttons at least once. We made our way to special event number one-brick party. The entire room had different kinds of building toys at every table-and we were the only ones there! This was perfect for my engineer girl and there were benches for us moms to chat it up while they played.

After the brick party we walked through interactive displays and another dinosaur area!

We finally made our way down to special event number two a dinosaur dig. It was awesome. The kiddos could go in an excavate with shovels, pails and brushes.

The Museum of Natural History in Sugar Land is a smaller extension of the Houston museum by the same name. The building is a converted jail house with tons of history. It’s mellow and fun and plenty to do not far from home. How did we not know about this earlier!

Casa Bonita Restaurant

July 19, 2016 By Callie Leave a Comment

Denver,Co

We ended our Colorado trip by rushing to the famous Casa Bonita restaurant in Denver and it was the perfect stop as we drove back into Denver.

Casa Bonita is a family friendly restaurant that offers a Tex Mex menu with kids favorites as well. The outside is beautiful but the inside is crazy! It’s basically a Mexican village complete with twists and turns and lights! There is literally something around every corner and you could easily spend several hours here. We literally had one hour to spare but I was bound and determined to get it in and check it off my Colorado list.

Everyone who comes in must order but the dishes are super affordable and quick. Each meal comes with sopapillas which you can pick up at the sopapilla building or ask your server to grab for you. You order like a fast food joint-line, order-you can special order, grab your tray and walk out to the hostess. They then seat you and your server comes and brings drinks, etc.

There’s a waterfall where they have actual diving throughout the day. You can buy glow in the dark toys like you would at a parade. There was a man in a gorilla suit running through the restaurant. It was crazy and fun and you know what? The food was not half bad! Row loved it.

They also had little nooks and crannies throughout the restaurant with quarter pony rides for the kiddos and aquariums and so many other things. If you’re in the area stop by and if you’re heading to Denver add it to your must do list!
