Organizing this Mess-Ribbon Storage

So I mentioned earlier how I collect things….washi tape, movies, department 56 houses, Matilda Jane clothing-mind you I don’t wear it but Ro does, and I guess you can add ribbon to that list.

Don’t you just love the look of new ribbon? It’s so beautiful and so full of possibilities. So I think on my husband’s last count he said I had a bazillion spools of ribbon. I bought some more this week! I had been having a really difficult time figuring out how to store my ribbon. At first I just loaded them in a drawer but after awhile it just got messy and let’s face it do you know how many drawers I would need? Plus if  you stack the spools on top of each other, then you can’t see anything right?

Then I bought ribbon spool holder boxes at my beloved Hobby Lobby. How many you ask 15-that’s right 15 and I still had some in drawers. The downside of the boxes is that it’s pretty difficult to spool the ribbons on them and then thread your ribbon through the tiny slit to access your ribbon. Want to add a new spool? You’d have to take all the others out and respool them-ugh!!!! So I’d buy new ribbon and never put anymore in the boxes. Plus those boxes take up a lot of space. So I found a solution at Office Max!!!!

They had these cute little organizer boxes that snap on the ends-I told you I had a lot!(There’s another on in the closet!) The boxes were so great and take up so much less space! I’m also able to see exactly what I have and store multiple spools in each box. I wrapped each spool of ribbon around index cards which I label with color and size and then secure with a straight pin.

Guess who else has a ribbon obsession? Ro! What’s she wearing? Matilda Jane Judy and Ethel top and Red Rover Bennys.

Do you have a ribbon obsession? How do you store them?
