No Sew Bunny Tutu

March 24, 2015 By Callie Leave a Comment

Our Easter celebrations are beginning! We are pasteled and bunnied and peeped and chicked out. I love Easter…and for us as Catholics this is our big holiday-even though it may not seem that way. This is the final match! This is the day the promise was fulfilled and the gates of Heaven were opened. It’s amazing really.

This year Rowan and I are hosting a Toddler Easter party. It has always been about the moments as I call them. Moments to remember. My friends know I’m all about making memories and not missing a thing. We worked really hard to get Row here and we are not missing out.

Our party will consist of fun Mama times and playtime with snacks, a visit from the Bunny and an egg hunt. I wanted to make something cute and easy so I scoured Pinterest and then I found cute bunny tutus. I changed it up a bit by making them no sew tutus-because EASY!

Supplies-

Tulle-I chose pink.

Elastic

Large White Pom Pom

I love using the smaller size tulle on a spool for tutus and gifts because it’s precut and easy. Measure your toddlers waist with the elastic, cut and tie. Cut a ton of tulle-I actually ended up using the entire spool.I don’t measure as I cut I just wing it.

I found something in the house to stretch out and hold my elastic in place and then simply start knotting.

Once complete and full you can trim any extra long pieces. Hot glue the pom pom on the back to create the tail effect and bam Little Bunny Foo Foo.

So easy and cute. Row loved it and decided to twirl in it for evening entertainment.

Mini Easter Egg Cakes

March 19, 2016 By Callie Leave a Comment

We do tons of Toddler get togethers in our little group and I adore it. We also each bring a snack whether it’s a party or a play date and while grabbing something from the store is uber acceptable sometimes I like making something cute and it gives me a reason!

Our Easter play date was approaching and originally we weren’t going to be able to go due to speech therapy but we had a cancellation and bam we could go so I wanted something cute, sweet, quick and easy.I turned over to my trusty Pinterest board and found this amazingly cute idea on my Easter board from Food Recipes Online-their stuff is amazing. I will say of course you can make all of this from scratch but on the flip side you don’t have to.

Ingredients:

IMG_5172

Pound Cake-how many depends on the size of your cookie cutter

Vanilla Icing-any kind but whipped 2 cans per cake

Food Coloring

Thaw out those pound cakes-you could also use sponge cake for a lighter feel but the pound cake holds together nicely. Using a break knife cut evenly lengthwise to create two equal halves.

IMG_5174

Use your cookie cutter to cut out egg shapes. Pull apart.

Set up a drizzle station with a drying rack and a large cookie sheet under-with a lip.

IMG_5175

Open up your icing and microwave for 20 seconds, stir, and microwave again until the icing become liquidy like a glaze.

Pour liberally over cakes.

IMG_5177

Allow to dry-I needed to put these in the fridge to set due to our humid Texas climate.

Display in adorable cupcake liners and go.

You could use fondant and decorate them super cute like Food Recipes Online did and you could just pipesome lines on them with icing as well. I found the plain look did the job especially in a pinch. Cute and easy!

How are you getting ready for Easter?

A New Day

March 29, 2016 By Callie Leave a Comment

Our Easter was calm. Our day was spent with us. When I was little we lived in Massachusetts so what I remember about holidays was it was just us. Hubs was the same. In fact, that’s one reason we get along so well. We love our extended family and are so happy to see them and join in but we love being just us.

We slept in-Row has a way of sleeping in on days when most kids get up early-like Christmas. Row woke up and hubs went and got her for snuggles-we snuggle on the weekend. Just the three of us. We heard the door creak and Grandma joined just us. She’s become a part of us and we wouldn’t want her to miss any of the fun.

Row had put her Easter basket out on the table the night before in hopes the Easter Bunny would come. We talked about the promise of Jesus and how he was making all things new again. How he was removing the veil between us and God. How in Spring everything becomes new.

She woke up to her basket filled to the brim with treats-I let the bunny know she’s not into candy much these days.

She was so happy-so content and so were we.

That’s what we did all day-just be, just us.

I hope you had a wonderful holiday reflecting and looking forward to all things new.
