Weekend Recap

March 22, 2016 By Callie Leave a Comment

I’m a little late on this one.Our weather here went from 90 last week to 45 today-it’s been a killer!

This weekend we inched our way up to Easter! This is the week Jesus was ushered in by the people waving palms. This is the week He was betrayed, this is the week His mother lost her son, this is the week we gained redemption. May we pause and ready our hearts for this immense miracle.

We are getting ready for our Easter celebration! Crafts and stories a bunnies and eggs and peeps of course.

We continued our month long birthday extravaganza by going to another party this weekend. This time it was a gymnastics party. After this year I think I will pretty much know every place to have a party in our town. Row had a blast jumping and jumping and jumping. We did too!

Hubs and I thanks to Grandma got to catch Zootopia-my choice. Since I only got to see a good ten minutes with Row I had been jonesing to see the rest. I am a Disnerd. We went and it was AMAZING! I loved it sooooo much. So much great subject matter and they did a great job explaining grown up problems such as prejudice and racism, and striving for your dreams. I was really impressed. Of course it will be coming home with us once it’s on DVD.

I hope you had an amazing weekend and are gearing up for a cherished week. I’m prepping to make the Bunny cake!!!

Mini Easter Egg Cakes

March 19, 2016 By Callie Leave a Comment

We do tons of Toddler get togethers in our little group and I adore it. We also each bring a snack whether it’s a party or a play date and while grabbing something from the store is uber acceptable sometimes I like making something cute and it gives me a reason!

Our Easter play date was approaching and originally we weren’t going to be able to go due to speech therapy but we had a cancellation and bam we could go so I wanted something cute, sweet, quick and easy.I turned over to my trusty Pinterest board and found this amazingly cute idea on my Easter board from Food Recipes Online-their stuff is amazing. I will say of course you can make all of this from scratch but on the flip side you don’t have to.

Ingredients:

IMG_5172

Pound Cake-how many depends on the size of your cookie cutter

Vanilla Icing-any kind but whipped 2 cans per cake

Food Coloring

Thaw out those pound cakes-you could also use sponge cake for a lighter feel but the pound cake holds together nicely. Using a break knife cut evenly lengthwise to create two equal halves.

IMG_5174

Use your cookie cutter to cut out egg shapes. Pull apart.

Set up a drizzle station with a drying rack and a large cookie sheet under-with a lip.

IMG_5175

Open up your icing and microwave for 20 seconds, stir, and microwave again until the icing become liquidy like a glaze.

Pour liberally over cakes.

IMG_5177

Allow to dry-I needed to put these in the fridge to set due to our humid Texas climate.

Display in adorable cupcake liners and go.

You could use fondant and decorate them super cute like Food Recipes Online did and you could just pipesome lines on them with icing as well. I found the plain look did the job especially in a pinch. Cute and easy!

How are you getting ready for Easter?

Weekend ReCap

February 22, 2016 By Callie Leave a Comment

How was your weekend-was it rowdy or restless?

Our weekend ish started with receiving our box of Matilda Jane goodies in the mail-some for Row and some for Mama. People told me when I was preggo not to count on her loving bows or sparkles or pink. I’m glad they said that so often because I guess she heard those words so much in utero that she came out just that. Girlfriend likes to wear multiple bows at a time and literally hugs her Matilda Jane when it gets here-proof and point.

Friday night was our monthly Girls Gone Wild Night Out-who am I kidding we usually stay in but it is so nice to talk to adults without having tourettes or talking about the littles. Amber over at Fraternal Frenzie hosted and we made these awesome signs. She’s so crafty! I’m looking forward to the next time she hosts us. She and her husband cut all the boards, got all the supplies, tarped the table, she cooked and put her twins to bed and they were actually asleep when we got there at 7!!!

Our dear Melissa is getting ready to have a precious girl to add to our little group and we couldn’t be more thrilled. We threw a shower for her on Saturday and count them-7 of us-7!!!! That’s how many of us wanted to throw this lady a shower-we must like her! She’s as thoughtful as can be and it was so nice to have some time to show her how much we love and appreciate her. Our group is awesome and supportive and encouraging and I couldn’t have had a better prayer answered through them. It’s hard when your best girls live far away. These girls have helped that so much and the love that they have for my child and I have for theirs is oh so evident. Prom picture 2016.

We finished off by resting on Sunday and I have been following the #ZootopiaEvent all weekend online. Well because 1. I’m a Disnerd and 2. My cousin Mariah is one of the event goers and I have been having the best time following them. They are doing the coolest things at Disney. Want to follow too? Simply hop onto facebook, instagram, and/or twitter and type #Zootopiaevent and all their adventures will pop up!
