Weekend ReCap

February 9, 2016 By Callie Leave a Comment

I hope you had a relaxing weekend! Seems most weekends are so full and I can’t begin to imagine my life if I worked outside of the home. The weekends are our chance to be with family and slow down and that’s one of the luxuries of giving up my salary to stay home gives us so to all you working outside the house moms-hats off to you. Also living in the Houston area is crazy and with all the people things seem to take forever to do on the weekends.

Last weekend I was lucky enough to get together with the girls at a Girls Night Out Bowling. I always have fun with my bloomie friends and that night was a ton of fun however….

Seems I had a little too much fun bowling and spent this weekend recuperating from a bacterial infection IN MY EYE. I’ve decided it was the bowling balls even though we all used hand sanitizer after each bowl. Three of us got sick but mine was the best. Swollen shut, lanced, it’s still sore but geez. I may never bowl again. I believe the romance has worn off in my eye.

This unforseen atrocity led to sheltering in place on the homestead. Watching Doc McStuffins, Goldie and Bear and my little one making table forts.

Oh and we found this beauty down the road!!! Someone was throwing it out so we grabbed it on the of chance it worked and it did! Our neighborhood isn’t allowed to have garage sales so people just throw stuff out. You never know what you’ll find-like this!!!!

I hope everyone had a restful weekend because it’s Valentine’s week!!!!

Weekend Recap

February 16, 2016 By Callie Leave a Comment

I hope everyone had a restful weekend. I know here in Texas many schools went to school on President’s Day but hubs was lucky enough to have the day off so we got an extra long weekend.

We are bit of homebodies…but we made it out to the movies and saw Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. I really wasn’t getting my hopes up for this one but with my deep love for Mr. Darcy and his love of zombies we thought hey let’s give it a go. It was actually really really good!

Oh Mr. Darcy-he was his usual prideful and prejudiced self needing to be put in his place by Miss Elizabeth and I have decided we should go back to their style of dress with ling flowing nightgownish (yes I am fully aware I make up words) dresses and ballet flats for shows minus the being eaten by zombies part.

I will say however in this rendition- you go girl. Those girls were warriors.

This weekend Row continued her threenager love affair with blankie. (Photo proof to follow) Now when I say blankie I don’t mean her baby blanket-that thing is history I mean the blanket off of her bed. The twin sized Matilda Jane blanket she insists on bringing everywhere. Oh Linus. It is a fight to leave it for us to go into speech therapy. Does anyone else feel like 3 is way harder than 2 and there are so many battles I have a hard time picking which ones to fight? Sheesh.

We go to speech twice a week for what we love to call a severe speech delay-severe. If you know what I mean then you know what I mean. And you are not alone. I feel all alone all of the time but I remind myself that I indeed am not alone!

This following week my girlfriends and I got to hear Kristen of We Are That Family speak about raising grateful children in an entitled world. She was oh so encouraging and real and that’s why I have followed her for years-years. Her words have sat right in my heart and with our speech delay island of loneliness I remember the words Kristin spoke. If you are going to compare yourself as we so often do…. if you’re going to compare up (to those who have more) then you must compare down (to those who are struggling more) in order to gain perspective. Ahhh! It gets you doesn’t it! Thank you Kristen!

May your heart be full of gratefulness this coming week. What are you grateful for?

Weekend ReCap

How was your weekend-was it rowdy or restless?

Our weekend ish started with receiving our box of Matilda Jane goodies in the mail-some for Row and some for Mama. People told me when I was preggo not to count on her loving bows or sparkles or pink. I’m glad they said that so often because I guess she heard those words so much in utero that she came out just that. Girlfriend likes to wear multiple bows at a time and literally hugs her Matilda Jane when it gets here-proof and point.

Friday night was our monthly Girls Gone Wild Night Out-who am I kidding we usually stay in but it is so nice to talk to adults without having tourettes or talking about the littles. Amber over at Fraternal Frenzie hosted and we made these awesome signs. She’s so crafty! I’m looking forward to the next time she hosts us. She and her husband cut all the boards, got all the supplies, tarped the table, she cooked and put her twins to bed and they were actually asleep when we got there at 7!!!

Our dear Melissa is getting ready to have a precious girl to add to our little group and we couldn’t be more thrilled. We threw a shower for her on Saturday and count them-7 of us-7!!!! That’s how many of us wanted to throw this lady a shower-we must like her! She’s as thoughtful as can be and it was so nice to have some time to show her how much we love and appreciate her. Our group is awesome and supportive and encouraging and I couldn’t have had a better prayer answered through them. It’s hard when your best girls live far away. These girls have helped that so much and the love that they have for my child and I have for theirs is oh so evident. Prom picture 2016.

We finished off by resting on Sunday and I have been following the #ZootopiaEvent all weekend online. Well because 1. I’m a Disnerd and 2. My cousin Mariah is one of the event goers and I have been having the best time following them. They are doing the coolest things at Disney. Want to follow too? Simply hop onto facebook, instagram, and/or twitter and type #Zootopiaevent and all their adventures will pop up!
