Blue Dawn/Vinegar Cleaning Win!

January 8, 2016 By Callie Leave a Comment

I hate cleaning the tubs and showers because they just never actually get clean. We have a “new” home-it’s considered old hahahahah where we live….9 years old. As I was saying our old house has gotten grimy…mainly because while I was busy in Massachusetts trying to get preggo with our Row we rented out our house and frankly no one will ever take care of your home the way you would. In less than a year our showers had dark rings on the base and for the life of me I couldn’t bleach them out.

Bring it on pinterest….I’ve been slowly decluttering and deep cleaning the house. I got through my closet. I’m now onto the bathroom attached to our closet and the shower was up.

I found several recipes and variations and made a decision to give it a go. I used equal parts BLUE dawn-notice it MUST BE BLUE…and white vinegar. I started with 1 cup of each-yes once cup of dish soap. I ran to Home Depot and got one of those major professional squirt bottles and felt important. Now mind you I would say about 90% of my friends have maids…so they don’t care about me and my trusty bottle but I must say it’s marvelous.

I heated one cup of vinegar for about 40 seconds in the microwave, poured it in the bottle, measured out my blue dawn, added it to the bottle and shook. I waited about 5 minutes.

I went in….

I'm taking the blue dawn vinegar challenge! This ring has been here since we rented our house out for a year and nothing works! #fingerscrossed

I left that shower drenched for an hour. Now loads of people say you can just wash it off but I took a dish sponge-filled the handle with water and scrubbed that baby.

By the power of Gray Skull it WORKED. I have NEVER been more shocked and surprised. It didn’t get everything off but I did it again the next day and bam that baby sparkles.

It was easy. It worked…enough said!

Organize Me-Grocery List

December 14, 2015 By Callie Leave a Comment

Ok I’ll admit it I have totally read partially KonMarie’s book about tidying up-I’m still reading it. I’m a slow tidier with a toddler but I literally threw out 20 lip glosses today and seeing as I rarely wear lip gloss what does that say?

I am actually a very organized person and I love it. Organization means ease. So in going through this decluttering process I have also noticed the way I do some things in my life could be done differently. I present you with my grocery list!

I generally just have a magnetic notepad and jot down things as we run out. I find myself at the grocery store with a talkative uhem meltodwny threenager and always realize I have completely forgotten about 5 things on the other side of the store and it’s over-just over.

I really wanted a way to have everything laid out. So I ran out and found the cutest clipboard I could find!

I added some magnets-the magnets that can be cut and stuck. Although I hot glued them because they just wouldn’t stay put.

I searched Pinterest for free grocery list printables. There are really so many free ones that you can choose just your style.

And voila! I haven’t forgotten anything since.

Here’s to making your shopping trips a whole heck of a lot easier!

I have added affiliate links to the supplies for this project to make your life so much easier=I love you Amazon Prime!

Baby Doll Water Table Play

July 14, 2015 By Callie Leave a Comment

My girl is obsessed with water! She would be in a pool/sprinkler/water table all day. Yes I did say IN the water table. The teacher in me yearns to make cool “centers” to swap out to make her play more meaningful.

I jumped on Pinterest and found some super cute ideas for water play. I particularly liked the ones with dolls because that’s what Row seems to be into right now. Dressing, undressing, making me redress, diapering, making me rediaper. You get the picture. How many others are there out there???

I hopped on over to the store and picked up some baby doll bath time essentials. I’ve included affiliate links in case you want to easily snag your own supplies.

Here’s what we got:

Baby doll-this one had a training diaper that could go into the water table without being removed

Scrubbers

Poofs

Mitts

Toothbrush

Spray Bottle

I set everything up and let her have at it. You could also add soap for fun! She had a blast. I was also able to integrate vocabulary and background knowledge by labeling the items as she used them and narrating what she was doing. For example, use your toothbrush to brush the baby’s teeth. You can also talk about positional words while playing. Pour the water ON the baby. Brush the baby’s teeth IN her mouth.

We had a blast and it was something new and different. I also love that everything is small enough that I could easily store in a small tub and bring out occasionally.

What fun things do you do in your water table? I’m thinking about mud or jello next!!!!!
