New Years Goals

January 4, 2016 By Callie Leave a Comment

I don’t know about you but I’ve never been a big New Years fan. I guess it has to do with teaching for so long. Teachers measure years in school calendars. I think of a new year as September and so when January rolls around I don’t think much of it…other than of course it being my birthday month!

I am however big on making goals. Not so much resolutions. I saw a post on Facebook from an old neighbor about how she and her family go out to eat the week before Christmas and they sit down with a notebook and talk about family goals for the following year. I was instantly like I can do that!

I love that it’s a way to reflect and move on. I have also found that setting a goal, writing it down, and thinking about the steps it takes to get you there is the only way to make your dreams work. See this blog you’re reading? This blog is exactly that.

Now Row is only tiny and she doesn’t talk too much so I was happy to make her goal for her this year-next year it’s all yours girlfriend.

I also like that this gave us an insight into what each of us are desiring in our hearts and allows the team to support you in those goals.

How awesome is that? Now don’t get me wrong the hubs and I love to love/hate each other…it’s real…I just can’t quit him even when I may want to and I know he’d say ditto because listen I’m a lot to handle.

Our Goals….

  1. No fast food every other month-ouch but it’s for our health and for our piggy bank. We decided to start with February and give it a go. Of course it doesn’t count if you’re traveling.
  2. Hubs wants to do a hike in the area-I hate hiking…good news he wants to go alone. Now I’m the planner in the family so I can easily plan this one.
  3. Disney for the girls in 2016. You know I’ve already booked this and am eyeing 2017.
  4. Take Grandma-yes we include Grandma, even though she doesn’t know it. She basically not really lives here. Take Grandma to the Magnolia Silos.
  5. Increase my viewership on the bloggy.
  6. Continue to declutter
  7. One Texas road trip-a year-I’m hoping for BlueBell now that they are back!!!
  8. A weekend trip to NOLA French Quarters. I have this desire to travel more now that we have Row-which is weird because when I had the time and we were without Row we didn’t travel. She makes me yearn for experiences-and for us to do them together. I have learned too well how what we will truly leave with are memories.
  9. And I want to read my Bible, a paragraph a night.

Our goals keep us moving towards our dreams. I love that when we say them openly and write them down we will them into being. That when your partner knows what you hope for they can help you achieve it.

Our goals are about experiences together. As life pulls us apart may we bring ourselves back together.

What are your hopes and dreams for your fabulous life? I’m glad I get to share it with you.

Goals for 2015

January 2, 2015 By Callie Leave a Comment

new-year-2015-5

I like to call them goals instead of resolutions. I have a better chance of actually accomplishing goals. So are you ready?

Step 1-Pick your goals. I like to stick with two. They tend to be pretty broad goals. I also don’t want to overwhelm myself and then never start.

Goal 1-Loose weight-isn’t that everyone’s goal? No but seriously I come from a long line of chunky people with diabetes and well I just don’t want that. I also haven’t always been heavy. I’m an emotional eater. Top that with five years of active fertility treatments and you’re setting yourself up for disaster! Did you know that those hormone shots make your body think it’s pregnant. What do pregnant women have-a large appetite!!! Also while I only have one glorious baby I have been pregnant five times….you read that right. Hubs and I were joking the other day because I was nauseous. He said well are you pregnant? I responded=fat chance. Then it hit me out of all my friends-with the exception of one I’ve been pregnant more that all of them!!!!

So loose the chubby..but how…calorie tracking-journal and active living. You have to know the how to get to the goal. Plus I’d like my hip to stop popping-did pregnancy do that to anyone else?

Goal 2-Declutter, declutter. Have you been seeing all those clean your house one thing a week goal? I’m in love.

I have found that my toddler is a bit of a hoarder. Toys everywhere! Plus I use to be quite the shopper. I’m also an emotional shopper so when we couldn’t get pregnant I would shop. I am setting up the have I worn it in a year? Have I used it in a year? Rule!

I also want to not get to overwhelmed with the cleaning so only one cabinet/area a week. Let’s see how it goes!

I will be posting as I declutter! I’m starting with all the kitchen counter tops next week!!!

Step 2-Write down every week what you plan to do to accomplish your goals. For example in my planner I’ll write down three days a week where we go to the park or take a walk to increase our active lifestyle. I’ll also write down exactly which areas I will declutter. I have also set up donation tubs in the garage!

Step 3-Give yourself grace. Oh and mercy. We are just people. If God can give you grace and mercy can’t you give it to yourself as well? If you get off the wagon don’t stop-regroup and come back. You can do this!

What are your goals are you setting for yourself???

Rolo Pretzels

December 29, 2014 By Callie Leave a Comment

I have been MIA for a week now. Mainly because I wanted to spend down time with family. Our Christmas was a fun blur of family outings, Christmas lights and cooking. I hope you had a very merry one! I baked and pinned some awesome cookies for next year.

At the moment I’ve been thinking about not cooking. So this is my go to easy sweet treat recipe for any of those after Christmas parties and New Years get togethers. Rolo Pretzels are just what the name says. Rolos and pretzels. They’re super easy and super good. They also fall under that whole new wave of salted caramel pretzel awesomeness.

I also love that while they’re homemade the hardest part in making them is in opening the individual Rolos. I recommend if you have a child they help out by doing that task.

Ingredients-

bag of rolos

square pretzels

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Lay down as many pretzels as will fit in a single layer or just as many as you want. I roughly make 50 at a time. Place the unwrapped Rolos in the center of each pretzel. Pop in the oven for 5-10 minutes. Remove from the oven and place another pretzel on top of the Rolo and squish down. Be careful that caramel can feel like hot glue. Oh and you’re done. Cool for 10-20 minutes.

These are really good. I first came upon them while I was teaching Kindergarten during teacher appreciation week. A parent dropped them off and I was in love. I prefer to use the square pretzels because they seem to keep more of the Rolo inside while squishing.

These are great if you feel like bringing something to an upcoming party and just don’t want to actually bake. Think New Years Eve party!

Christmas was amazing! Row got a wagon from Santa and decided to open her gifts while inside until half way through when she crashed.

She's been in the wagon since she got up opening gifts!

Woke up at 10... And now this happens...Christmas sleep coma.
