Weekend Wrap up

December 1, 2015 By Callie Leave a Comment

I hope everyone had a restful and stressless holiday week!

Ours was spent getting all of those things done that pile on day after day and I was loving it.

We had Thanksgiving at home which was nice. Hubs and I both grew up only having Thanksgiving with our immediate family and so Thanksgiving at a house with tons of people although fun can be a bit overwhelming. Grandma was here of course.

Hubs cooked the turkey-I handled everything else and Row was awake this year.

We have literally been eating turkey dinner for every meal and it’s pretty awesome not meal planning!

Grandma and I geared up for some shopping! We live for drama-it’s true. We actually only go to one or two stores, grab our stuff and dart back home.

Waiting for thanksgiving

Waiting for thanksgiving

On Saturday we headed out to Dewberry Farms to cut down our annual Christmas tree. They actually shape them all year long and so they’re pretty much all perfect. It had been 80 and sweaty the day before as we hung our lights. Let it be known Grandma did some, hubs did some and I did some-not pictured is me of course. I also bought those star shower laser lights this year-AMAZING wait no LIFE CHANGING.

It begins

And so since it was freezing Row might have been a bit cold/bundled.

After we rode the hayride out to the tree farm hubs walked out, grabbed a saw and said-Callie pick which ever one you want and hurry-so I did. He cut it down, and the boy handed him the tag we didn’t look at and realized that it was $200 we both almost fainted. He was a trooper though and it came home with us.

It's a little full and a lot big

It’s a little full and a lot big

It may be a little big is all….10 foot ceilings yikes-no tree topper this year and so starts our year of the most expensive live Christmas tree we will ever own.

Our $200 tree touches the ceiling- note to self check the tag before cutting next year

But one the upside we have a memory and someone had the best day ever.

Somebody had a good time picking a tree

Somebody had a good time picking a tree

Why yes that is a Christmas Minnie Mouse.

Organizing the Mess-DVD Storage

February 3, 2015 By Callie Leave a Comment

It’s been awhile….I took a week off for my BIRTHDAY! And now back to reality.

I love movies…kind of a lot. Back in my before I had kids life the hubs and I went to the movies almost every weekend. I also love watching movies again and again and am a complete sucker for anything from the 1980’s. Yes I love Jake Ryan. Wait…what? You don’t know who that is???? That is a real problem.

Row loves movies too. She loves pulling them off the shelves and stacking them and throwing them and ripping the covers. You see my point. I had them in alphabetical order. I am a bit of a Type A personality. So basically what I’m getting at is

1. I love movies.

2. I own a ton of movies.

3. My toddler destroys that area all day long.

I have found a solution!!!! It saves space-so much space. It also enables me to move the dvd’s out of baby reaching abilities.

Here’s the before picture. Mind you this is only one shelf of four shelves and this is after I did the big purge and sold about half of our movies.

So I went and bought some decorative boxes at Hobby Lobby-I ended up needing two. I think I’ll buy another just in case I need it so they’ll match later. I also bought DVD sleeves and tabs.

All the dvd’s themselves go into the sleeves labeled. And bam! All our dvd’s fit onto one shelf now. THE TOP SHELF!

Yes I have asked hubs to buy me a D’Lorean like a million times. Yes his boss has one-it’s so wrong.

How’s your organizing going? I had really started with a bang but decided to slow down. I was finding all kinds of things to get rid of and then ran into the problem of having a ton of things I needed to sell stacking up. I resolved that until those items are sold or donated I would wait to clean out the next drawer.

I hope you’re doing an amazing job-well I know you are!

Creating Gallery Walls

January 16, 2015 By Callie Leave a Comment

I spoke earlier about us moving back into our house after I lived in Massachusetts. We had gotten rid of every non essential piece of furniture. I told myself upon moving back in I would completely make it my own-every inch. I have found in my old uhem age I love a more contemporary style. I scoured pinterest pinning fun home projects. The very first thing I decided to do was make an entry gallery wall.

I have been asked way too many times where I get my frames to even mention. It’s hard to find the things you have imagined in your mind and make them come to home decorating life sometimes. I found this amazing small business called Cut It Out Frames. The awesome thing is there are so many sizes and varieties. They all come in natural wood and then I simply spray painted them to fit my needs. They can become pricy once you start adding so I chose one to start with and then added as my budget allowed. I thought the fact that they didn’t have glass would bother me but I actually love it. The owner makes everything once you order himself and the customer service is amazing!!!!

I also have to give a shout out to the photographers because you know I didn’t take those pictures. My bestie Marc Kelly took our wedding picture. He’s an amazing photographer based out of LA and since he was my man of honor he actually took the pictures as our wedding gift!

Our local photographer is the sweet, bubbly, amazingly patient and creative Melissa who owns Snapped with Love Photography. This girl has been dealing with my baby sass since day 1. I mean she changed my newborn Row’s diaper when I was hobbled over from my c-section without blinking. She deals with toddlers who won’t do ANYTHING and makes it look amazing. She’s local in the Houston area but travels and does sessions in New Orleans from time to time as well….I mean she needs to knock on Brad and Angelina’s door at least twice a year.

This entry way is definitely one of my favorite things! I love changing the pictures out as we take new ones-I save all the old ones behind the picture showing. I also love keeping some of the oldies. I love that I can make it my own and grow it as needed which is why I’m participating in Momfessional’s Friday Favorites!

I hope you have an amazing weekend-with some sun-right!!!!
