5 Tips for Seeing Disney on Ice

July 5, 2016 By Callie Leave a Comment

disney on ice

Do you have a big Disney fan at home? Do you get the Disney blues when you’re away from your Disney “home”? Then Disney on Ice is for you! This is not your regular Ice Capades but a wonderful show which includes so many of your beloved Disney characters.

Disney on Ice runs throughout the US during the year. It runs yearly so sign up with your local major city’s stadium-ours in Houston is NRG Stadium. Sign up for their mailing list so you can get a heads up for when tickets go on sale. We have already gotten a mailing for this coming years show.

Here’s what you need to know before you go!

  1. Bring Cash! That’s right from parking to souvenirs and snacks cash is the way to go. It gets you in and out faster. The selling kiosks that are there for the show have credit card machines but they take forever and fail. Oh and those adorable souvenirs are expensive.
  2. Dress as your Fav Character-Why not make it even more fun by wearing your Mickey shirt or dressing as your fav Disney princess. So many people come dressed. It just makes it more fun.
  3. The Best Seats-The best seats for viewing this show is the smaller side. It’s where you can see the show face on. But don’t count out the side seats-you can see tons from the sides and pay less as well.
  4. Sensory-If anyone in your party has sensory issues of any kind talk to them before you go. The show will be dark, it will be loud, there will be things falling from the ceiling-on the ice only, and there will be fireworks. Talk to them before your go and definitely bring headphones or ear plugs just in case.
  5. Come Early-Each show has a treasure trove of fun things to do before you find your seat. Our show had face painting and pictures with characters-not FREE mind you but fun!

Disney on Ice is definitely fun for all! Row is three and I was a bit worried about her sitting through the show. She made it and adored the show. It was definitely a Disney fix until our next trip. The new show dates have already been released so get on your mailing list for the sale and mark those calendars. Perfect for kids of all ages! Oh and dollar store glow sticks would be fun!

Valentine’s Day Slime

February 5, 2015 By Callie Leave a Comment

Hearts and flowers and slime oh my! Here’s a toddler friendly gushy gooey sensory activity to keep those little ones busy during drizzly, snowy dinner time making days.

Ingredients:

1/2 Cup of white glue-elmer’s school glue works just fine-one whole small bottle will do it)

1/2 Cup of water

1/2 Cup of liquid starch-this can be found at grocery stores

Mix the water and glue in a large mixing bowl. After the glue is diluted this is the time to add any food coloring, foam tidbits, confetti, glitter etc.

Now the cool part. Slowly ass the starch while consistently mixing. It will form a blob-like a blob rising from the water.

Mix completely-add all of the starch. Knead a bit and then lay on a plate to dry just a bit. I dried for about an hour.

Have fun! Great idea for valentine’s too-just cut into smaller pieces.

Row well she was not so sure….but I was!

Christmas Sensory Tub

December 16, 2014 By Callie Leave a Comment

I’m not gonna lie. I love a good party. I especially love a good toddler party.I’ve waited my whole infertility life planning events like these just to soak them into wonderful memories. I must be completely crazy though. 21 toddlers and their mamas is crazy and fun and the quickest way to trash your house ever!

Our toddler party hosted a book exchange for the toddlers. Row has been “reading” hers every night! A cookie exchange for the mamas-yummy! I’ll share my recipe soon. Oh and a Christmas Sensory tub for the littles. I made it into a Christmas sensory sand box tub-extra large. I mean there were 21 of them.

Supplies-all found at the dollar store!!!

cotton balls for snow

bells

tinsel

tiny packges

Row had a chance to sneak a play with her best friend E before the party while her Mama and I ran around crazy! The snowballs were tons of fun because they could pull them apart. But I must warn you the tinsel was fun and everyone loved it but oh my was it a crazy clean up.

Several children simply rolled in the tub-how cute is that?

This sensory tub can be made smaller and it’s also great for winter months. Instead of presents and bells add in snowflake cutouts. I already bought some! The great part about these tubs is as soon as we are done I simply bag them up, label, and they’re ready for next year. If you’re an oil person you could add peppermint. I had a thin mint overdose as a child and have never overcome it so no peppermint in our house!

This weekend was crazy fun!

Mama went to see the rockettes-amazing!c94d4911fcc53e48ad2f1aabe71e6d75.jpg

One of our local families put on an amazing free light show to music-yes they have their own radio station.

Somebody loved it.

Somebody loves the Christmas lights!

What’s Row wearing-Matilda Jane Party Dress-this thing is amazing!
