Cheesy Sausage Bites Recipe

February 24, 2015 By Callie Leave a Comment

Oh Monday! Monday is always the start of my amazing moms group Ibloom. This week it was my groups turn to bring breakfast. Each week a small group brings breakfast items to share with the larger group. I started scouring Pinterest for breakfast ideas. I actually found several, combined and tweaked and came up with….Cheesy Sausage Bites. I will admit they were a million times better warm at home!

BTW-super easy, quick and good!

Ingredients/Supplies

Mini muffin pan-2 is best

Cooking spray-I like the baking kind since you’ll be using biscuits

2 cans of Grands Junior Flaky Biscuits-containing ten each

One bag/2cups of Cheddar Cheese shredded

Sausage-two boxes of jimmy dean links or anything similar

Preheat the oven to 400-biscuit directions. Spray muffin pans with cooking spray. Roll out your biscuits. Separate each biscuit in 2 small biscuits. I just pulled them gently in half-so that they retain the biscuit shape. Put each halved biscuit into each muffin pan slot and push down so it forms a cup. Slice sausage into small bite sizes. Mine were still frozen and they came out fine. Each sausage link yielded four bites for me. Put a pinch of shredded cheese on top of each bite. Cook for 8 minutes-cool for five and DONE!

Everyone liked them except the toddler-big surprise there! These would also make great appetizers!

Toddler Time-Tub Painting

November 19, 2014 By Callie Leave a Comment

You know what the easiest, cleanest way for a toddler to use finger paints involves? The tub! What an idea….I mean after they paint it’s basically an all over the place ordeal and tubby time is a necessity. Why not save yourself the trip and the headache by painting in the tub…what’s that you say? Make it edible-done!

Our week has started off with a bang. This week in Ibloom we talked about friendships. We talked about friendships that come in and out of your life and the wonderful purpose of each. I have been so blessed with so many friends throughout my life. People who have shown up when I needed them even after years of being apart. There have also been times when I felt I didn’t have a friend in the world. Infertility can sometimes push people away. Women are afraid of saying the wrong thing, or worse of the same thing happening to them. It is for that very reason….the loneliness that I chose to speak out about our infertility struggle from then on. So that you may feel not alone.

On that blessed day that my Row entered our lives I then began to pray for a special friendship. One for Row and I. A friend for her and a Mama friend for me….and boy did He provide abundantly. Today we had some bestie time playing as all toddlers do side by side but not really interacting. Which by the way is called parallel play and is totally developmental. It’s so wonderful seeing them greet each other and “talk”.

Besties

We planned our upcoming Toddler Christmas Party-you knew that was coming right? I immediately began a shopping list in my head of Christmas cookies for our cookie exchange-eek. I’m ready to Christmasfy this place!

Onto tubby time. I’m a play advocate! That’s right I believe in learning through play. You’ll hear me time and time again. I try to do one new fun activity a week. You heard the right ONE. I don’t want to introduce too much to overstimulate and I want her life to be fun. I found this super cute and EASY idea for sensory play in the tub.

Supplies-vanilla pudding and food coloring.

Mix the food coloring in the pudding and plop it in the tub. It’s so great because it’s edible too. I initially started with one color-we talked about the color and texture and then onto free play. This was a great sensory activity! We played right before our actual bath time. As you can see she had a blast. A word of warning. If your child is a splasher, thrower, slinger….I would go ahead and remove some items like say the bathmat, hanging towels, etc… Row had a blast and slung it everywhere! I mean behind the toilet everywhere. It was totally worth it though.  It was also really easy to clean and didn’t stain anything. Not bath mat, not tub, not even walls. Once she was done I just started up the water, scrubbed a bit with the washcloth and spot cleaned as needed. We will definitely repeat this one!

I hope you’re having a great week! Do you have any great toddler friendly art activities?

Oh and I almost forgot these amazing things came in the mail today. I heart Livie and Luca shoes and these are gray suede with gray sparkles-love! The picture does them no justice.

Cutest baby shoes ever! luca for life!

Some Giggles and Fun

September 11, 2014 By Callie Leave a Comment

This week has all been giggles and fun. Well last week actually. This week has been the beginning of our getting back into the year routine. Teachers measure years in school years and Fall starts a new year for me too. Our mothers group Ibloom started this week. I literally felt like I was in elementary school as I learned which group I would be in and who my mentor mom would be. The great thing about our moms group is it creates a safe place for women with young children to just be their own genuine self. Of course I’m a Catholic-I mean I’m super Catholic in my heart-no budging me and the church for the moms group is Methodist so there are a couple of getting used to things. Like praying out loud. But I soooo love it and have met the most amazing women.

Row doesn’t go to the childcare part mainly because she screams her head off unless she’s with her peeps-me-her main peep, Papa-or Dadee and Grandma. I’m so lucky that my mom spends almost everyday with us when she’s not at work and has Mondays off so I can go to Ibloom without screaming meemie.

Why else has it been a great week? I’ve been to Hobby Lobby twice. Yep. I bought another Americolor-most amazing baking dye ever. I feel I need every color. Grabbed some things for projects.BTW-I’ve been blog hopping and one thing I personally love is when they add links to things they love.

Kindermusik class with Miss Kathy starts tomorrow. Update later! That woman Miss Kathy-friggin amazing like a baby/toddler whisperer and fun-so much fun. I feel like I get a weekly email from her, well I do actually because we banter back and forth just for the fun of it.

Our moms group often makes playdates-open ended for all to come. This past Friday we met at Giggles and Fun. It’s pretty new in Katy and is a large play area with a playground in the middle, race track with plasma cars around it and then several different play areas throughout. Play areas include a hardware store, grocery store, dress up, lego, moon surface, horse stable, and padded area for babes. They host parties and such and charge a $10 fee per child. You can stay as long as you like. If you go with a group of 6 or more they bump it down to $8 per child. It’s a little pricey but a ton of fun.

As you can see I couldn’t even get a picture of Row she was busy stacking. If you’re in the area you should definitely give it a go. Bring socks for you and the babe. It does get hot because it’s in basically a warehouse.

What’s Row wearing-Matilda Jane-Be Mine Sara-yes I’m totally obsessed with Matilda Jane…in fact I even have a pair of ruffle pants for myself-and so it begins.

On this wonderful day in this wonderful land that we live in may we remember the sacrifices of others, the loss, the hope as we remember September 11. May we continue to pray for peace and especially for those who have been taught that religion teaches death and despair. May we pray that those who live with that understanding open their hearts to a gentler God, one who respects life. We have not forgotten, we remember, and to those who survived may you find peace in your hearts.
